Job Description
The LA Clippers are a professional basketball team based in Los Angeles, California, competing in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Known for their competitive spirit and commitment to excellence, the team not only focuses on delivering top-tier performances on the court but also prioritizes the well-being and nutrition of their players, coaches, and basketball operations staff. The LA Clippers organization is deeply committed to fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment where every team member contributes to the overall success and positive culture of the franchise.
Situated within the state-of-the-art Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, which opened in August 2024, the LA Clippers benefit from one of the most advanced sports and entertainment facilities in the country. Intuit Dome is more than just a venue; it is a hub of innovation and fan engagement, hosting hundreds of sporting events and concerts annually. The facility boasts over one million square feet, featuring five full-sized basketball courts, a huge outdoor plaza of 80,000 square feet, and an impressive double-sided Halo Board composed of an acre of LED technology. This environment not only supports the team’s athletic pursuits but also promotes community engagement and entertainment on an unprecedented scale.
The role of the Team Chef is pivotal in this high-performance environment, as nutrition directly impacts athletes' health, recovery, and performance. The Team Chef is a skilled and dependable kitchen professional responsible for preparing performance-driven meals tailored to meet the specific dietary needs of players, coaches, and staff. This full-time position, based at the Clippers’ training center within Intuit Dome, demands adaptability and the ability to work efficiently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The Team Chef supports all aspects of culinary operations, including station management, food safety compliance, inventory control, and leadership of junior kitchen staff such as interns and dishwashers.
The Team Chef performs daily preparation tasks across multiple service areas including Banquet, a la Carte Bar, Self-Service Kiosks, and a Fuel Bar. They ensure that every meal meets strict standards for nutrient profile, flavor, presentation, and timing to optimize athlete performance and satisfaction. A clear, professional line of communication with players and staff regarding any meal specifications, allergies, or special dietary restrictions is essential.
In addition to culinary expertise, the Team Chef plays an integral role in maintaining food safety and sanitation standards, adhering to HACCP guidelines, proper handling, labeling, and storage. Inventory management tasks include monitoring product usage, minimizing waste, ordering coordination, and quality control of deliveries. Leadership responsibilities involve participating in pre-shift meetings, nutrition education sessions, and supervising support staff to enhance teamwork and operational efficiency.
This career opportunity not only offers a competitive salary ranging from $70,340 to $82,000 annually but also includes a comprehensive benefits package. These benefits encompass medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with company contributions, paid vacation and sick leave, parental leave, and other wellness and financial programs. This environment encourages personal and professional growth within a culture that values integrity, diligence, collaboration, and innovation, with a focus on utilizing emerging technology and AI tools to continuously improve performance and fan experiences.
Working for the LA Clippers means being part of an organization that values diversity and equal opportunity, providing a professional, discrimination-free workplace with reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities. This is a unique chance to contribute to a high-profile sports franchise while developing culinary skills that support elite athletes at the highest level of basketball competition.
