Job Description
Diversified Restaurant Group (DRG) is a dynamic and people-first company that prides itself on maintaining the essence of a small business culture despite its expansive growth. Founded in 2012 starting with just a 30-unit Taco Bell operation, DRG has transformed into a significant multi-brand restaurant operator managing over 300 units across several states including California, Kansas, Missouri, Nevada, and Alaska. Today, DRG employs more than 9,000 team members and continues to expand its footprint steadily. The company focuses on fostering a family-like work environment where each employee is valued and encouraged to grow personally and professionally, which has helped them establish a strong reputation in the highly competitive restaurant industry.
DRG's portfolio includes Taco Bell restaurants in multiple states alongside Arby’s restaurants across Alaska, California, and Nevada. As a franchisee of Taco Bell, Golden Gate Bell, LLC, operates independently, setting its own wage and benefit structures that may vary across locations. DRG is an employer that truly invests in its team by offering diverse programs like education benefits, employee assistance, and unique grant initiatives to support team members in multiple aspects of their lives.
The General Manager (GM) role at DRG is a pivotal leadership position that embodies the company’s values by driving operational excellence and fostering a positive culture within the restaurant. The GM serves as a mentor to their team, promoting high standards in food quality, customer service, and overall restaurant performance. This role is responsible for ensuring smooth daily operations while aligning all efforts towards achieving maximum profitability and operational efficiency. Maintaining a motivated and well-trained team is critical, as is upholding compliance with all company policies and local regulations.
The GM is tasked with developing talent – identifying and nurturing future leaders within the team through selective recruitment, consistent training, and empowerment. Leadership behaviors such as integrity, motivation, analytical thinking, and results-driven focus are essential for success in this role. The position requires a hands-on approach to managing finances, controlling costs, and meeting strategic goals while maintaining a welcoming and respectful environment for both employees and guests. A significant part of the job involves communication and liaison duties, serving as a vital link between the restaurant staff and upper management to maintain an open-door culture.
This full-time, non-exempt position expects an average workweek of 45 hours, including flexible availability to accommodate nights, weekends, and holidays – reflecting the demands of the restaurant industry. Candidates must have at least two years of restaurant experience with proven leadership capabilities, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and meet specific health and safety certifications required by state laws. Reliable transportation, a clear criminal background check, and a clean motor vehicle record are also necessary.
Working at DRG gives General Managers access to a variety of employee-centric benefits designed to support their financial, educational, and wellness needs. Some examples include the DRG Cares Grant Program, DailyPay, Employee Assistance Program, Live Mas Scholarship, and exclusive employee discounts through the Savings Marketplace. These initiatives demonstrate DRG’s commitment to the well-being and continuous development of its team members.
Holding the role of General Manager at DRG means becoming an integral part of a growing company that values leadership, inclusivity, and a team-first mentality. If you are looking to lead a motivated team, impact operational results, and grow in a thriving restaurant group, this opportunity could be an excellent match for your career aspirations.
