Job Description

Sixty Vines is a chef-driven restaurant renowned for its menus inspired by the seasonal cuisine of the wine country. The establishment places a strong emphasis on using local ingredients to craft dishes that are fresh from an open scratch kitchen. This dedication to quality and freshness ensures that every dining experience is exceptional. At Sixty Vines, the knowledgeable staff members are well-versed in wine pairings, helping guests select the perfect glass to complement each dish. This unique combination of delectable food and expert wine pairing creates a distinctive dining atmosphere that celebrates the rich culinary traditions of the wine country.

The restaurant is committed to creating a welcoming and hospitable environment for both guests and staff alike. Employees are encouraged to bring a fun, energetic, and professional attitude to their roles while contributing to a seamless dining experience for every customer. The position being offered is for hosts and hostesses who will serve as the first point of contact for guests. This role is crucial in setting the tone for each patron's visit by providing a warm and efficient greeting and ensuring smooth seating arrangements.

The host or hostess will greet and seat all guests in a friendly and timely manner, handle incoming phone calls promptly, and maintain cleanliness in designated areas such as the entrance and hostess stand. Managing the reservation system effectively is a key part of the role, which includes balancing seating within reservation times, quoting accurate wait times, and avoiding overbooking or underbooking the restaurant. Hosts and hostesses will escort guests to their tables while engaging in light conversation to enhance the overall hospitality experience.

Beyond these primary duties, hosts and hostesses at Sixty Vines are expected to interact professionally and kindly with guests and colleagues, arrive punctual and prepared for shifts, and adhere to uniform and appearance standards. They will assist with bussing tables when necessary, provide directions within the restaurant, and ensure guests feel appreciated when arriving or leaving. A strong knowledge of the restaurant's offerings, hours of operation, special events, and menu features is essential for answering guest inquiries and addressing any concerns.

Sixty Vines offers a competitive hourly wage averaging $17, inclusive of tips, along with flexible schedules to accommodate employees. Additional benefits include five days of paid time off (PTO) after one year conditional upon meeting minimum average hour requirements, and insurance options available after 90 days of employment with similar hour requirements. The company also invests in employee growth through quarterly wine country trips and opportunities to obtain certifications such as WSET or Sommelier credentials. These benefits reflect the company’s commitment to fostering a rewarding and engaging work environment.

Employees at Sixty Vines are part of a team that values hospitality, professionalism, and a passion for food and wine. The restaurant participates in the E-Verify program to maintain a legal workforce and is an equal opportunity employer, ensuring all candidates are given fair consideration. Overall, working as a host or hostess at Sixty Vines offers a dynamic, supportive environment where staff can develop their skills and contribute to a memorable dining experience.
