Job Description

Nami Nori is a pioneering Japanese culinary establishment located in New York City, renowned for being the first to specialize in open-style sushi hand rolls, also known as temaki. This innovative approach to sushi has garnered significant acclaim and a devoted following, thanks to Nami Nori's commitment to "omotenashi," the traditional Japanese art of gracious hospitality. With a dynamic and modern atmosphere centered around the authentic and creative preparation of hand rolls, Nami Nori not only attracts sushi enthusiasts but also educates customers about Japanese ingredients and cooking techniques. Recognized by prestigious publications such as The New York Times, The New Yorker, and the Michelin Guide, Nami Nori has established itself as a respected trailblazer in New York City's vibrant culinary scene.

The opportunity at Nami Nori calls for highly personable and energetic individuals who share a deep passion for Japanese food. This role does not require prior Japanese culinary experience, as the company provides comprehensive training for ideal candidates who are eager to learn about the unique ingredients and methods associated with Japanese cuisine. The establishment values hospitality and aims to create exceptional experiences for both guests and employees. The position is designed for candidates who thrive in a fast-paced restaurant environment, who are team-oriented, and who possess a strong work ethic. As a member of the Nami Nori team, you will be responsible for preparing sushi hand rolls for dine-in and take-out patrons, contributing directly to the guest experience by interacting with them and ensuring satisfaction.

Working at Nami Nori means becoming part of a company dedicated not only to culinary excellence but also to professional growth and enrichment. Employees benefit from a supportive workplace with opportunities for advancement, additional training and development, and incentives aligned with job performance. The compensation structure includes tips plus minimum wage with a tip credit, and the role offers flexible scheduling accommodating nights, weekends, and holidays. If you are passionate about cooking and hospitality, enjoy working in a dynamic team environment, and are looking to expand your skills in Japanese cuisine within one of the city's most innovative and admired sushi restaurants, Nami Nori is the place to build your career.
