Job Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for precise cutting and assembly of sushi
- ability to lift and carry large pans from ovens or freezers, weighing up to 50 pounds
- work in a potentially hot and fast-paced kitchen environment
- pushing and pulling occasionally to move equipment
- ability to handle moderate to high noise levels in the kitchen environment
Job Qualifications
- A minimum of two years of experience as a sushi cook or similar role
- in-depth knowledge of sushi preparation techniques
- strong knife skills and precision in handling raw fish and other ingredients
- ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- excellent communication and teamwork skills
- knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
Job Duties
- Prepare high-quality sushi dishes in accordance with established recipes and standards
- ensure the freshness and quality of ingredients used in sushi preparation
- handle, slice, and present fish and other ingredients with precision and attention to detail
- collaborate with kitchen staff to maintain an efficient and organized work-flow
- maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the sushi preparation area
- monitor and manage inventory levels of sushi ingredients
- uphold food safety regulations and practices
- may be required to perform other duties as needed to support the overall goals and objectives of the team and organization
