Job Description
Hai Hospitality Uchiko is part of the esteemed Hai Hospitality group, an emerging multi-concept restaurant organization headquartered in Austin, Texas. Known for its innovative approach to hospitality and culinary excellence, Hai Hospitality operates several unique dining concepts, including Uchi, Uchiko, Uchiba, and Loro. The focus of the group is not only on delivering outstanding food but also on providing exceptional service and fostering a workplace culture that values creativity, work ethic, and pride in craftsmanship. Employees at Hai Hospitality enjoy a welcoming environment where collaboration and growth are encouraged, and where the experience of both staff and guests is held in the highest regard. Their team members share a passion for food and beverage and are committed to continuously learning and improving their skills.
Hai Hospitality Uchiko is currently seeking passionate and skilled Sushi Chefs to join their team. This role is critical in enriching the culinary and service experience for guests, contributing directly to the high standards that define the brand. Sushi Chefs at Uchiko not only craft dishes but also engage with guests at the sushi bar, providing an interactive and memorable dining experience. With an average compensation of $25 per hour—comprising a base hourly rate plus tips—this position offers gainful employment and a strong foundation for anyone looking to build a long-term career in the culinary arts.
New hires will receive a $1,250 sign-on bonus payable after 90 days following the completion of training, underscoring the company’s commitment to investing in their team’s success. The role involves learning and perfecting sushi-making techniques under the guidance of experienced chefs, understanding proper product handling and waste reduction, and growing in various sushi station specialties. This is not simply a job; it is an opportunity for continuous learning and career advancement within a supportive team environment.
Candidates who thrive here are those who have a true passion for food, strong communication and emotional intelligence, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume setting. Teamwork, humility, and collaboration are core values, alongside a positive attitude and a solution-oriented mindset. The company values initiative, urgency, and an openness to feedback, creating a culture where every team member is motivated to improve and share their knowledge.
Hai Hospitality Uchiko also emphasizes the importance of maintaining a fun and vibrant work atmosphere, where a good sense of humor is appreciated. Employees benefit from a comprehensive package of medical, dental, vision, and accident insurance options, an Employee Assistance Program offering mental health services, employer-matched 401k savings plans, opportunities for internal promotion, and dining discounts.
At Hai Hospitality Uchiko, sushi chefs become integral parts of a team committed to excellence, growth, and hospitality that goes beyond the plate. Whether you are an experienced sushi chef or eager to develop your skills under expert mentorship, this role offers a chance to be part of a respected brand that values its people as much as its food. If you love high-quality Japanese cuisine and want to build your career in a supportive, dynamic environment, this could be the perfect fit for you.
