Sushi Chefs at Uchiko make an average of $25 per hour, including hourly base rate plus tips, along with excellent opportunities for career growth within the organization. Notably, new hires are eligible for a $1,250 sign-on bonus payable after 90 days following the completion of training, reflecting the company’s commitment to attracting and retaining top culinary talent. \n\nAs a Sushi Chef at Uchiko, you will have the opportunity to learn and perfect sushi-making techniques under the close mentorship of experienced chefs. Responsibilities include familiarizing yourself thoroughly with the menu, current specials, and the rich traditions and nuances of Japanese cuisine. You will be expected to master various sushi stations, understand proper handling and waste reduction techniques for ingredients, and collaborate with the team to create innovative dishes featured on special menus. Interaction with guests at the sushi bar is also a key component of the role, providing an engaging and enjoyable experience by taking orders, explaining dishes, and offering a warm and welcoming presence. \n\nThis role demands a candidate with a passion for food and beverage, strong teamwork skills, humility, and a solution-oriented mindset. Job Requirements
- Must be able to effectively communicate with guests and other employees
- Detect and identify safety issues, and comply with safety guidelines and standards
- Lift and carry trays, dishes, equipment, and goods up to 50 lbs, stock inventory, and perform restocking duties
- Must have the ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Bend, stoop, and reach to access various areas and items
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Ability to work in a variety of temperatures, both hot and cold
- Lift, push, or pull objects such as tables and chairs to reconfigure seating arrangements

Job Duties
- Acquaint yourself with our menu, current specials, and Japanese cuisine
- Learn and perfect your sushi techniques under the guidance of our skilled Chef teams
- Understand proper handling and waste reduction of product
- Interact with guests at the sushi bar
- take orders, explain dishes, and cultivate an amazing experience for yourself and the guest
- Learn our various sushi stations and progress as your knowledge and skills grows
- Collaborate with our teams to create dishes that will be showcased on our specials page and core menu
