As a Sushi Chef at Townhouse-Detroit, you will play a vital role in creating an exceptional sushi bar experience. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior sushi chef experience preferred
  • Food handler certification or willingness to obtain
  • Proficient knife skills
  • Ability to prepare sushi rice and assorted sushi dishes
  • Capacity to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Capability to work in high-volume fast-paced kitchen
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Positive attitude
  • Must be able to take direction and feedback
  • Willingness to learn and teach others

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience as a sushi chef or in high-volume sushi preparation preferred
  • Strong knife skills including fish butchery
  • Knowledge of sushi rice preparation techniques
  • Certified food handler or willingness to obtain certification
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Positive attitude and strong team player mindset

Job Duties

  • Prepare a variety of sushi and sashimi including rolls nigiri and other Japanese dishes according to recipe standards
  • Safely and effectively operate all necessary tools and equipment including knives and sushi-making equipment
  • Follow prescribed portioning controls and par levels
  • Maintain food safety and quality standards
  • Communicate food delays or issues to Culinary Manager
  • Maintain menu item counts and communicate shortages to Management and service staff
  • Accurately account for all items leaving the station
  • Understand and follow food allergy procedures and special orders restrictions
  • Comply with all safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Collaborate effectively with team members
  • Perform other duties as assigned
