Job Description

Panda Restaurant Group is a renowned family-owned and operated Asian restaurant company that has been a leader in the industry since 1983. Based in Glendale, California, the company is the largest family-owned American Chinese Restaurant concept in the United States, boasting close to 2,300 locations worldwide. Panda Restaurant Group encompasses several dining concepts including the original Panda Inn fine dining restaurants, Panda Express fast casual outlets, and Hibachi San Japanese grill. The company prides itself on delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences founded on a mission to build an organization where people are inspired to better their lives. This mission is supported by five fundamental values: Proactive, Respect/Win-Win, Growth, Great Operations, and Giving. The company offers opportunities across entry-level to management positions nationally, encouraging career advancement and leadership development among its associates.

The Sushi Chef role at Panda Inn, part of the Panda Restaurant Group, is a unique opportunity for individuals with a passion for sushi preparation and fine dining. The Glendale location seeks experienced Sushi Chefs to join their dynamic team in a fast-paced, high-quality culinary environment. This full-time position offers competitive pay, ranging from $20 to $23 per hour depending on location and experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package. Sushi Chefs at Panda are responsible for preparing sushi items, including specialized rolls and fresh fish, and are encouraged to innovate by creating new dishes, presentations, and sauces. They actively engage with guests at the sushi bar, educating them about the menu and enhancing their dining experience.

This role requires a balance of culinary skill, creativity, and excellent customer service. Candidates must be able to ensure freshness and presentation quality while maintaining a clean work area. The job demands the ability to multitask efficiently in a high-pressure environment while adhering to detailed food preparation instructions without close supervision. Physical requirements include the ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly, and work in hot, noisy kitchens. Panda Restaurant Group values diversity and equality, striving to create an inclusive workplace that fosters creative ideas and respects individual backgrounds. Associates receive hands-on paid training, ongoing career and leadership development, and opportunities for growth into management. The company offers medical, dental, vision insurance, 401K with company match, paid time off, and various other associate perks to support employee well-being and career satisfaction.
