This role is for a Sushi Chef, a crucial position within JOEY’s culinary team. Sushi Chefs at JOEY are passionate about crafting world-class sushi products, ensuring every dish meets the highest standards of quality and consistency. This position requires someone detail-oriented with culinary skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and demanding environment. The Sushi Chef is responsible for producing all sushi menu items while adhering to recipe standards and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the prep and cooking stations. The job offers an hourly wage starting at Washington State’s minimum wage of $16.66 with additional opportunity to participate in a company tip pool, where tips typically range from $8.00 to $18.00 per hour.

The Sushi Chef role demands strong culinary skills, excellent coordination with other kitchen stations, and adherence to food safety and sanitation protocols. Job Requirements

  • 1-3 plus years of culinary experience
  • ability to obtain valid local and/or state Food Handler permits
  • physical ability to walk and stand for long periods, frequent bending and stretching, and lift up to 50 lbs
  • willingness to work in a fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Prep all ingredients and food products to fulfill prep lists, par levels, and recipe standards
  • utilize various prep and cooking methods to ensure the quick, precise creation of menu items in accordance with JOEY recipes
  • maintain prep and cooking areas in a clean, sanitary, and safe manner
  • clean, organize, and maintain refrigerators, cooler drawers, ovens, prep and dry storage areas
  • complete assigned side work and closing duties to support team success
  • follow all instructions and guidelines for safe usage of kitchen equipment and cleaning compounds
  • follow all food service and handling safety precautions and procedures
