The organization prioritizes safety, learning, and kindness in its mission, aiming to provide unparalleled medical care and community support. Recognizing the vital role of surgical services in patient care, Geisinger invests in state-of-the-art operating facilities and a dedicated team of healthcare professionals who work collaboratively to deliver outstanding surgical outcomes.

The Surgical Technologist position at Geisinger is designed for professionals passionate about supporting surgical teams and enhancing patient care throughout the surgical process. This role is critical in ensuring that surgeries are conducted smoothly, safely, and efficiently by assisting surgeons during procedures involving patients of all ages. During surgery, the technologist supports the surgical team by managing supplies, anticipating surgeon needs, and maintaining surgical site safety in accordance with universal protocols.

This full-time, day-shift role involves working 10-hour shifts, four times per week, typically from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, with rotational responsibilities including evening, night, weekend, holiday shifts, and on-call duties with a 30-minute response time. Geisinger also offers up to $40,000 in financial support for individuals interested in advancing their careers to become nurses, reflecting their commitment to continuous education and professional growth.

The Surgical Technologist functions not only as a key operative team member but also assumes responsibilities such as handling patient specimens, documenting and verifying surgical counts, adhering to safety standards, and participating in quality control and emergency response procedures. Additionally, technologists may serve as preceptors for students, assist with patient transport, and perform post-mortem care. The role requires certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) unless exempt under Pennsylvania Act 80, ensuring professionals meet industry standards to maintain high-quality surgical care.

Geisinger supports its employees with an extensive benefits package that begins from day one of employment. This comprehensive plan includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, multiple medical plan options, health savings accounts with employer contributions, company-paid life insurance, disability coverage, a 401(k) plan with automatic contributions, generous paid time off accrual, tuition reimbursement up to $5,000 annually, wellness incentives, family support programs, and an Employee Assistance Program offering legal, mental health, and caregiving resources. Voluntary benefits such as accident, critical illness, and identity theft protection are also available.

Joining Geisinger means becoming part of a diverse and inclusive healthcare family that fosters collaboration, continuous learning, and a safe working environment.
