The Surgical Technologist position at Geisinger is designed for professionals passionate about supporting surgical teams and enhancing patient care throughout the surgical process. This role is critical in ensuring that surgeries are conducted smoothly, safely, and efficiently by assisting surgeons during procedures involving patients of all ages. The technologist prepares the operating room by practicing aseptic techniques, setting up instruments, and ensuring that all equipment is correctly sterilized and arranged. During surgery, the technologist supports the surgical team by managing supplies, anticipating surgeon needs, and maintaining surgical site safety in accordance with universal protocols.

This full-time, day-shift role involves working 10-hour shifts, four times per week, typically from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, with rotational responsibilities including evening, night, weekend, holiday shifts, and on-call duties with a 30-minute response time. Compensation starts at $25.00 per hour with additional financial incentives such as a $7,500 hiring bonus for eligible candidates and up to $5 per hour shift differentials. The Surgical Technologist functions not only as a key operative team member but also assumes responsibilities such as handling patient specimens, documenting and verifying surgical counts, adhering to safety standards, and participating in quality control and emergency response procedures. The role requires certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) unless exempt under Pennsylvania Act 80, ensuring professionals meet industry standards to maintain high-quality surgical care.
