Job Description

The Supervisor Food Services position is an integral role within the food service department of a healthcare or hospitality establishment that prioritizes the delivery of high-quality food service. This role is essential in managing and guiding the department's staff to ensure that every meal served meets the highest standards of accuracy, portion control, and regulatory compliance. As a food services supervisor, you will have a hands-on leadership role that combines operational oversight with employee development, ensuring that food safety and service protocols are consistently maintained.

This position, typically full-time and often salaried, requires a professional who understands the complexities of managing a food service team in a regulated environment. Your responsibility will extend from supervising the preparation and delivery of meals to overseeing the physical conditions of storage and service areas to prevent contamination and ensure freshness. You will also play a vital role in staff training and documentation, ensuring that all employees adhere to the latest regulations and best practices as set by agencies such as Infection Control, Health Department, and The Joint Commission.

The role demands a strong commitment to compliance, safety, and quality standards. You will be tasked with monitoring food labeling, dating, and storage protocols in all refrigeration units, developing cleaning schedules, and assessing the department’s adherence to Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) standards. Your leadership will directly impact the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the food services operation, impacting patient or guest satisfaction and well-being.

Moreover, as a Supervisor Food Services, you will be key in fostering a collaborative work environment. This involves assigning duties, managing performance appraisals, implementing disciplinary actions when necessary, and nurturing professional growth among your team. Your ability to motivate, train, and evaluate employees ensures a skilled and compliant workforce capable of meeting the department's demanding operational standards.

In summary, this role is ideal for seasoned food service professionals who bring at least 3-5 years of supervisory experience along with a strong understanding of health and safety certifications, particularly Serv Safe. If you have a passion for leading food service teams and ensuring excellent standards for meal service within a health or hospitality setting, this position offers a rewarding opportunity to make a significant impact while developing your career in food services management.
