Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Service Management, Dietetics, or related field
  • Minimum 2 years supervisory experience in hospitality or food service industry or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to perform computer skills for departmental information systems Epic, ICIS, and CBORD (training provided)
  • Knowledge of diet modifications for compliance with specific diet orders
  • Certified in ServSafe program within 6 months of hire
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Must adhere to proper safety, hygiene and sanitation practices (HACCP)
  • Able to communicate effectively across diverse educational and cultural backgrounds.

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Manage and execute superior quality patient food and nutrition meal services
  • Oversee all aspects of patient meal delivery systems
  • Maintain inpatient par stock supplies to units
  • Manage and develop staff including supervisors, diet aides, tray assemblers, and utility attendants
  • Act as ambassador for food and nutrition services to patients, staff, and the multidisciplinary team
  • Perform service recoveries to ensure satisfactory outcomes
  • Develop and maintain effective communication channels with employees at all levels
  • Maintain personal development through continued education and attendance at seminars and conferences
  • Serve on hospital teams and committees
  • Act as preceptor to dietetic interns and health career students
  • Participate in department goal development and implementation focusing on patient satisfaction and budgetary compliance
  • Ensure sanitation and infection control requirements are met
  • Handle safety and maintenance problems of equipment
  • Plan and oversee orientation and training of employees
  • Participate in staff selection and manage employee matters including promotions and disciplinary actions
  • Prepare employee work schedules and evaluations
  • Interact with Executive Chef and Clinical Nutrition Manager regarding food quality and menu assessment
  • Evaluate new recipes and food products for quality, cost, and patient acceptance
  • Audit meal delivery systems regularly to ensure quality and safety
  • Ensure compliance with hospital and regulatory policies
  • Respond to patients of all age groups in a friendly and confidential manner
  • Facilitate problem-solving with patient care units and departmental subunits.
