Job Requirements
- High school graduate or GED
- Minimum of three years experience in general housekeeping with at least one year in a leadership role
- Ability to supervise and motivate staff effectively
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, safety protocols and regulatory compliance
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage schedules and resources efficiently
- Capability to perform regular inspections and document compliance
- Commitment to maintaining safety standards and responding to emergencies
- Willingness to train and develop staff
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED
- Minimum of three years experience in a general housekeeping environment with at least one year in a leadership position
- Knowledge of methods, materials and techniques for effective cleaning and sanitation
- Understanding of occupational hazards and safety precautions
- Familiarity with JCAHO requirements and compliance standards
- Strong leadership and communication skills to motivate staff
- Ability to manage resources and meet deadlines
- Problem-solving and personnel management abilities
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
Job Duties
- Supervises programs to maintain the cleanliness of the assigned facility
- Implements departmental goals, objectives and plans and adheres to departmental policies and procedures
- Monitors and ensures institutional compliance with federal, state and local safety, environmental protection, and fire protection regulations and standards, as well as accreditation requirements
- Instructs and trains employees in the use of new equipment and cleaning methods
- Institutes and monitors work schedules to assure full coverage 24 hours a day, seven days a week
- Plans the daily activities of assigned personnel and periodically inspects jobs completed for quality of work and compliance with all environmental service standards
- Maintains documentation including records of patient rooms cleaned, compliance records, employee personnel and training records, and inventory of cleaning materials and equipment
- Assists in orientation and continued training of personnel
- Responds to special requests and ensures completion of preventive maintenance schedules
- Conducts surveys to identify work standards, workflow, environmental hazards, and unsafe practices
- Reports unsafe conditions and ensures immediate response
- Communicates and cooperates with hospital staff and responds to requests from patients, physicians and visitors in a courteous and professional manner
- Maintains and trains staff on bed tracking and Texpertise Linen computer systems
- Performs additional duties as assigned
