As an Environmental Services Supervisor within Banner Health, you will play a critical role that directly impacts the overall patient experience. This leadership position involves overseeing a dedicated team of approximately 35-45 environmental services staff members working to maintain a clean, sanitized, and safe environment crucial for patients, visitors, and hospital personnel. The supervisor ensures compliance with infection control and safety procedures and manages operational, technical, and personnel activities within the environmental services department. The role demands experience and expertise in hospital or clinical environmental services settings, particularly in managing sanitation and cleanliness to meet rigorous healthcare standards.
This is a full-time, salaried exempt position with two available openings. The shifts offered include the night shift from 3 pm to 11:30 pm and the overnight shift from 11 pm to 7:30 am, reflecting the critical need for continuous environmental services operations. The Environmental Services Supervisor will handle budget management, staff scheduling, training, evaluation, and coaching, ensuring strong leadership and motivated teams. The role also involves close collaboration with infection control to uphold health and safety standards, inspection rounds to verify cleanliness, coordination of special projects, and effective communication with healthcare professionals and facility leadership. This position is essential in managing resources efficiently and improving service quality, supporting Banner Health's mission in providing superior patient care and facility standards.

Job Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and eligibility for company auto insurance coverage may be required
- Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card required for employees in behavioral health settings serving children
- Signed Arizona Criminal History Affidavit upon hire
- Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations
- Ability to research and compile statistical reports
- Commitment to a drug-free workplace
- Adherence to hospital safety and regulatory guidelines
- Previous EVS experience in hospital/clinical setting highly preferred
- Ability to work night or overnight shifts
Job Qualifications
- Three or more years of diversified healthcare or similar institutional Environmental Services experience
- Extensive knowledge of leadership, staff training, customer service, computerized staffing and inventory principles
- Thorough working knowledge of floor care maintenance and machinery and chemicals used
- Knowledge of patient care area and room cleaning, surgical suite terminal cleaning
- Knowledge of hazardous waste procedures, Standard Precautions, and JCAHO standards on Infection Control and Environment of Care
- Effective organizational, communication, and human relations skills
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
- Intermediate skills in word processing, spreadsheet or database software preferred
Job Duties
- Supervises all Environmental Services personnel and daily work in assigned areas
- Maintains a competent and motivated staff through selection, scheduling, training, coaching, evaluating, and terminating personnel
- Performs daily patient rounding and inspection to assure hospital standards for cleanliness
- Schedules special projects and monitors equipment and furniture moves
- Works with patients, nurses, physicians, and department leaders on environmental services requests and infection prevention
- Makes recommendations, plans, and implements department policies and procedures
- Provides input and participates in system/facility taskforce and committees
