Job Description
ATG Entertainment is a globally recognized leader in the live entertainment industry, managing and operating some of the most iconic venues across the UK, the US, and Germany. With a portfolio that includes historic theatres, studio theatres, cinemas, conference spaces, and modern live music arenas, ATG Entertainment presents over 15,000 live performances each year to millions of audience members. The company prides itself on its expertise in theatre production, ticketing, and venue management, delivering unforgettable experiences for theatregoers and creators alike. As the world leader in theatre ticketing, ATG processes more than 18 million tickets annually for musicals, plays, concerts, comedy shows, and other live events. Their ticketing platform, ATGtickets.com, attracts over 40 million unique visitors annually, further emphasizing their significant presence in the entertainment sector. Headquartered in London with offices in New York and Cologne, ATG Entertainment is dedicated to supporting producers and creatives in bringing visionary performances to life, while ensuring excellent hospitality and service at their venues.
The role of Substitute Porter within ATG Entertainment is a vital position for maintaining the aesthetic and operational excellence of the company's five Broadway theatres located in New York: the St. James, the Al Hirschfeld, the August Wilson, the Eugene O’Neill, and the Walter Kerr. The substitution porter provides essential support in keeping these historic theatres in pristine condition, facilitating smooth and enjoyable experiences for all guests. This is a full-time position with a base pay of $23 per hour, offering union benefits through the 32BJ, including comprehensive health and pension plans. Candidates can expect varied working hours, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the dynamic nature of live theatre operations.
In this position, the Substitute Porter is responsible for maintaining cleanliness throughout the theatre spaces, which include public lobbies, restrooms, backstage areas, dressing rooms, and exterior sidewalks. Duties also involve vacuuming, mopping, trash removal, brass shining, and addressing any other necessary maintenance tasks to ensure the theatre remains visually stunning and welcoming during performances. The job requires individuals who are proactive, meticulous, and able to work independently with minimal supervision while adhering strictly to health and safety regulations.
This role also demands exceptional interpersonal skills, as porters often interact directly with the public during performances. The ideal candidate will be friendly, approachable, and willing to take initiative to offer superior customer service, ensuring that patrons and coworkers are treated with respect and courtesy. Prior experience in similar roles is advantageous but not mandatory, as enthusiasm and a strong work ethic are paramount.
ATG Entertainment fosters a collaborative work environment driven by values of ambition, collaboration, passion, and smart problem-solving. The company is committed to inclusion, diversity, equity, and access (IDEA), supporting a culture where everyone can bring their authentic selves and feel a profound sense of belonging. Joining this team means becoming part of a high-energy, detail-focused company that aims to provide the best experiences for both theatre guests and creative professionals. ATG’s commitment to excellent customer service, venue maintenance, and employee wellbeing creates a rewarding workplace for all employees. Working for ATG Entertainment not only offers competitive pay and benefits but also the opportunity to contribute to a world-leading live entertainment organization that truly values its people and productions.
