The hotel embodies the legacy of J. Willard Marriott, embracing exceptional hospitality, quality, and guest experience. JW Marriott is committed to diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity employment. At JW Marriott, associates thrive in a community-focused atmosphere with opportunities for training, development, recognition, and a balanced lifestyle in a luxury setting.
The position of Substitute Maintenance Associate at JW Marriott Brooklyn is a crucial role within the Engineering and Facilities department. This full-time, non-management role offers an hourly pay range of $31.88 to $42.51 and requires hands-on maintenance and repair work to ensure the hotel operates smoothly and maintains its high standards of guest comfort and safety. The Substitute Maintenance Associate is responsible for responding promptly to guest repair requests and performing minor plumbing repairs such as unclogging drains, plunging toilets, and fixing leaky spigots and faucets. In addition, the role involves carrying out miscellaneous repairs including tightening loose toilet seats, changing light bulbs, and patching holes in walls. Preventative maintenance on tools and equipment through cleaning and lubrication is also a key task to support ongoing operational efficiency.
Daily responsibilities include maintaining logs of operations, maintenance, and safety activities, communicating effectively with guests to resolve issues, and ensuring adherence to all company and safety policies. This role demands strong interpersonal skills to welcome and acknowledge guests, anticipate their needs, and assist individuals with disabilities, reflecting JW Marriott’s commitment to heartfelt and thoughtful service. The Substitute Maintenance Associate must maintain a professional appearance, uphold confidentiality, and protect company assets while fostering positive working relationships with team members. Physical requirements include the ability to bend, stretch, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform tasks involving reaching and grasping.
The ideal candidate holds at least a high school diploma or GED equivalent and possesses a minimum of two years of relevant work experience. While supervisory experience is not required, this role demands reliability, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to maintaining quality standards. JW Marriott emphasizes an inclusive and equitable workplace and values associates’ unique backgrounds, encouraging everyone to bring their full selves to work. Joining JW Marriott means becoming part of a global team known for its excellence in hospitality and dedication to employee well-being and growth.
