The organization relies on community support, partnerships, and fundraising events to fuel its mission and expand its reach within the Waco area and beyond.

The Event Planner Intern role at Waco Habitat for Humanity is an ideal opportunity for students interested in gaining hands-on experience in event planning and community engagement within the nonprofit sector. This internship offers a dynamic environment where interns will support the planning and execution of various events and fundraisers that are crucial for achieving the organization’s funding and awareness goals. Serving as an Event Planner Intern, you will work closely with the Director of Development and other team members to coordinate all aspects of events, including aesthetics like decor and color coordination, logistics related to buffet food service, management of auction items, guest communications, and the promotion of these events through targeted marketing campaigns.

As this is an off-campus position, reliable transportation is required to commute to the work location at 220 N. 11th Street, Waco, TX.

This internship is designed for students eligible for Federal Work-Study and involves working approximately 20 hours per week from Monday to Friday during the hours of 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, providing flexible scheduling suitable for balancing academic commitments. This role offers valuable experience in nonprofit event planning, project management, marketing, and community service, which can be foundational for a future career in event management, nonprofit administration, public relations, or community outreach. The position embraces a supportive and collaborative work culture where interns can develop professional skills, contribute meaningfully to community causes, and build a strong network within the nonprofit sector and beyond.
