Job Description
The Oklahoma Educational Television Authority (OETA) is a respected public media organization dedicated to serving the educational and cultural needs of the people of Oklahoma. As a PBS member network, OETA provides high-quality programming that supports lifelong learning, cultural enrichment, and community engagement throughout the state. Established to promote educational content via television and digital platforms, OETA has grown to become a trusted source of programming that reaches diverse audiences including educators, students, families, and the general public. The organization is committed to fostering a stronger Oklahoma through innovative media and public service, making it a cornerstone of the state’s educational and cultural landscape.
OETA is currently seeking a full-time Strategic Marketing and Events Planner to join its Marketing and Communications department. This role is pivotal in enhancing OETA’s visibility and community impact by overseeing the planning, promotion, and execution of a wide range of events. These events aim to engage various stakeholders across Oklahoma, including audiences, donors, educators, members, and community partners. The Strategic Marketing and Events Planner is responsible for developing and coordinating event marketing strategies, managing logistics from the initial concept to completion, and collaborating both internally across departments and externally with partners. The purpose of these efforts is to create exceptional experiences that strengthen OETA’s presence, deepen community engagement, and advance its mission of educational enrichment and cultural awareness.
The position involves managing an annual portfolio of events that includes approximately 4 to 8 public screenings, 3 to 6 children’s and family engagement activities, monthly internal employee events, and quarterly fundraising, sponsorship, and donor engagement events. Additionally, the planner supports large-scale partner events and outreach initiatives that range in attendance from about 50 participants to over 4,000 attendees.
In addition to event planning, this role contributes to OETA’s broader marketing and communications efforts. Responsibilities include graphic design, proofreading, content preparation, data entry, and various other marketing and administrative projects that support the organization’s goals. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, juggling multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and quality in all aspects of their work.
The Strategic Marketing and Events Planner plays a vital role in promoting OETA’s programming and mission by creating engaging events that foster relationships and build visibility. This position also contributes to digital marketing campaigns and social media promotion, helping to drive attendance, viewership, and donations digitally. Offering a salary range of $40,000 to $55,000 annually plus a comprehensive benefits package, OETA provides a competitive opportunity for a marketing and events professional who is passionate about public media and community engagement. Candidates are encouraged to bring creativity, collaboration, strategic thinking, and a commitment to high performance to this key role in an organization dedicated to positive public impact throughout Oklahoma.
