The Steward role at Bass Pro Shops plays a vital part in supporting the overall cleanliness and operational efficiency of the establishment. This position is responsible for maintaining a sanitary and safe working environment by properly cleaning, storing, and handling all washable items. Operating primarily in the food service or retail dining areas, the Steward ensures that dishwashing equipment is utilized effectively to provide an adequate supply of clean and sanitary tableware at all times. Maintaining personal hygiene and sanitation standards as established by local Health Departments is essential to the role, along with adhering to company-specific Ecosure standards, which outline health and safety practices. The Steward also manages proper food storage, handling, and preparation guidelines to uphold the highest standards of safety and cleanliness.
In addition to cleaning duties, the Steward is responsible for regular maintenance activities such as floor care, trash removal, and the proper organization of cleaning equipment and dish areas before the end of each shift. Safe handling and use of cleaning chemicals are critical to this role, ensuring both personal safety and compliance with regulatory standards. The position requires completion of all required training to ensure awareness of procedures and safety standards. The Steward works under direct supervision, following well-defined policies and procedures with limited scope for independent judgment. Job Requirements
- High school diploma/GED preferred
- Ability to operate dishwashing equipment
- Knowledge of sanitation and hygiene standards
- Ability to handle cleaning chemicals safely
- Capacity for regular walking, standing, lifting up to 50lbs, bending, stooping, and climbing
- Willingness to complete all training requirements
- Ability to work under direct supervision following established procedures
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Operates dishwashing equipment to ensure adequate supplies of clean and sanitary tableware at all times
- Maintains personal hygiene and sanitation standards as established by Health Department
- Follows proper food storage, handling and preparation standards
- Adheres to established Ecosure standards
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment through regular floor maintenance, trash removal, proper storage of equipment and cleaning of dish area prior to the end of each shift
- Handles and uses chemicals needed to clean and sanitize tableware in a safe manner
- Completes all training requirements
- Performs additional duties as assigned
