The Westin Arlington Gateway, part of Highgate's esteemed portfolio, is conveniently located just two blocks from the Ballston Metro Station, enabling easy access to Washington D.C.'s renowned monuments, museums, and vibrant neighborhoods such as Georgetown and DuPont Circle. The hotel features 338 modern guestrooms, including 14 suites, equipped with amenities to ensure guest comfort and satisfaction.

We are currently seeking a Kitchen Steward/Cleaner to join our dedicated team at The Westin Arlington Gateway. This role is integral to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation in all Food and Beverage areas within the hotel. The Kitchen Steward/Cleaner is responsible for operating dishwashing equipment, ensuring thorough cleaning and proper storage of china, glass, and silverware while adhering to all health and safety regulations. This role demands a proactive approach to sanitation, organization, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as scrubbing pots and pans, sweeping, mopping, and managing waste disposal.

The ideal candidate will have experience or education in related fields, exhibit excellent communication skills, and display a warm and friendly demeanor at all times. The ability to multitask, prioritize duties, and approach all interactions with a service-oriented attitude is essential. The position requires flexibility to work long hours, including heavy lifting, and the capacity to stand throughout the shift. Job Duties

  • Operate dishwashing equipment to clean china, glass, and silverware
  • return cleaned items to proper storage with care to prevent breakage
  • use proper safe handling techniques for cleaning chemicals
  • sweep and mop kitchen area including sinks, ice machine, soap, and sanitizer stations
  • manually wash and scrub all pots and pans
  • maintain stocking of paper, soap, and sanitizer dispensers
  • uphold high standards of cleanliness and orderliness in kitchens and utility areas
  • wash tile floors in food and beverage areas
  • empty trash and keep cans clean
  • comply with all Loss Prevention guidelines
  • keep floors clean and dry and clean up wet spills immediately
  • attend meetings and training as required by management
