Housing & Food Services at the University of Washington offers an outstanding opportunity for individuals interested in joining a dynamic team as a Starbucks Barista (Food Service Worker 1) within the WFSE Campuswide bargaining unit. This position is situated within a Starbucks licensed store on the UW campus, allowing team members to offer world-class, Starbucks-branded products and customer service in a vibrant, collegiate setting. As a Starbucks Barista, the primary responsibility is to prepare and serve food and beverages that meet Starbucks' standards for quality, consistency, and presentation. The role demands a passion for creating exceptional customer experiences through prompt and friendly service that engages customers about the variety of coffee beverages and specialty products available. The shift schedule runs from Sunday to Thursday, 11:15 AM to 7:45 PM, supporting the needs of the campus community during peak hours. This is a full-time opportunity, classified as a regular position under the WFSE Campuswide union with a full-time equivalent (FTE) of 100%. The annual pay range for this role is competitive, starting at $45,288 and up to $48,528, reflecting the importance of the role within campus operations.

Job Duties
- Deliver exceptional Starbucks-branded customer service by providing prompt, friendly, and accurate service while engaging customers about coffee and beverage offerings
- Prepare and serve high-quality beverages, food items, and specialty products in accordance with Starbucks standards for consistency, portioning, and presentation
- Foster a positive and collaborative team environment through effective communication, cooperation, and relationship building with coworkers
- Perform barista and bar back duties, including beverage preparation, food packaging, and replenishment of display items
- Monitor beverage and food preparation to ensure compliance with Starbucks quality, food safety, and operational standards
- Operate point-of-sale systems and process payments, including credit cards, Husky Cards, Starbucks app transactions, and loyalty rewards
- Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and consistent attendance while supporting UW Dining's mission and values
- Follow Washington State health codes and Starbucks food handling guidelines, including temperature monitoring and sanitation compliance
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace by participating in store cleaning, closing procedures, and reporting operational or safety concerns
- Troubleshoot and report equipment issues involving espresso machines, grinders, and other food service equipment
- Complete inventory and stocking tasks, including receiving deliveries, rotating products, maintaining displays, and monitoring supply levels
- Utilize CBORD systems for inventory counts, recipes, and production sheets while completing required Starbucks certifications and training
