The role offered at Marriott Downtown at City Creek is focused on providing superior customer service while maintaining a clean and attractive outlet for guests. This position requires a friendly and sincere approach to customer interactions, the ability to accurately prepare and ring up customer orders using POS systems, and ensuring guest satisfaction through tactful conflict resolution when necessary. The role also includes responsibilities such as maintaining high standards in product preparation, cleaning and sanitizing work areas and equipment, and adhering to accounting guidelines for handling payments and cash management. This is a tipped/service charge eligible position without discretionary performance bonuses. The work environment is fast-paced, offering a dynamic and rewarding experience for employees who are committed to consistently delivering excellent service. The position also emphasizes team collaboration, punctual attendance, and flexibility to perform a range of job-related duties. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in customer service or hospitality preferred
- Basic math proficiency
- Familiarity with point of sale systems
- Ability to work weekends, holidays and flexible hours
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Adherence to attendance and punctuality policies
Job Qualifications
- Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges, and understand portion sizes as relating to pricing
- Ability to operate a keyboard and Point of Sale procedures
- Ability to effectively deal with and resolve conflict situations
- Ability to sit and/or stand and work continually in confined spaces with or without reasonable accommodation
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences
Job Duties
- Greet customers immediately with a friendly and sincere welcome
- Use a positive and clear speaking voice, listen to, and understand requests
- Prepare customers' orders as requested accurately and efficiently
- Ring guest check correctly and close the check to the proper method of payment
- Ensure guest satisfaction and tactfully negotiate resolution if dissatisfaction occurs
- Maintain the highest level of standards for all product preparation
- Clean or sanitize work areas, utensils, equipment, service stations or seating areas
- Comply with accounting guidelines regarding receipt of payments, check total verification, tip disbursement, cash drawer and house bank management
- Balance house bank at the end of the shift
- Retrieve and return bank from vault to workstation to ensure accountability
- Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis
- Perform any other job-related duties as assigned
