The company fosters a collaborative environment where passionate colleagues innovate with purpose while prioritizing safety, quality, and accountability in all aspects of their work. CVS Health's core mission revolves around helping customers manage their health through personalized care and community engagement, making it a great place to work for those who are driven to make a positive difference in healthcare.
The Staff Pharmacist role at CVS Health is integral to fulfilling the company’s promise of improving patient health through safe medication dispensing, counseling, and immunization services. As a frontline player in the retail pharmacy setting, the Staff Pharmacist not only ensures the highest standards of pharmacy practice but also serves as a role model and leader within their team. This position is full-time, typically requiring 40 hours per week, with an anticipated pay range of $60.00 to $76.00 per hour depending on experience, education, and location. Additionally, the role is eligible for bonuses and incentive programs, reflecting CVS Health’s commitment to rewarding dedication and excellence.
In this capacity, the Staff Pharmacist supports the Pharmacy Manager by overseeing daily operations and acting as a proxy during bench shifts. Responsibilities include maintaining compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations, coaching pharmacy team members, and managing inventory with special attention to cold chain products. The Staff Pharmacist also plays a pivotal role in delivering compassionate care by proactively resolving insurance and medication issues, collaborating with patients’ healthcare teams, and engaging patients through counseling and clinical services. This role emphasizes patient safety by leading the pharmacy team in following safety procedures and workflows designed to prevent errors and ensure accurate dispensing.
Moreover, the Staff Pharmacist is actively involved in immunization efforts, not only administering vaccines but also supporting and training pharmacy technicians to provide immunizations, thereby enhancing community health. With a focus on continuous learning, the position encourages the ongoing development of clinical skills through required training and continuing medical education, helping pharmacists remain current with evolving industry standards.
CVS Health values flexibility and teamwork, expecting its Staff Pharmacists to adapt to scheduling needs and contribute to a positive, inclusive workplace culture. The position demands strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving abilities to navigate complex situations while prioritizing patient welfare. Physical requirements include the ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and perform fine motor tasks essential to pharmacy operations.
Overall, a career as a Staff Pharmacist at CVS Health offers the opportunity to be part of a dynamic team dedicated to transforming healthcare at the community level. With competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and a supportive work environment, this role is ideal for licensed pharmacists passionate about making a meaningful impact on individual and public health.
