Job Description
The Pennsylvania Convention Center stands as a premier venue for hosting a wide array of events ranging from large conventions and exhibitions to consumer shows. Renowned for its state-of-the-art facilities and exceptional service standards, the Pennsylvania Convention Center serves as a central hub for business, entertainment, and cultural events in the region. Managed under the esteemed ASM Global brand, which is a global leader in venue and event management, the Convention Center emphasizes a commitment to excellence, hospitality, and seamless event execution. The facility is dedicated to providing an outstanding experience for both clients and attendees, fostering long-term relationships through its professional and customer-focused approach.
The Senior Event Manager position at the Pennsylvania Convention Center is a critical leadership role within the Event Services Department. Reporting directly to the Director of Event Management, this role requires a seasoned professional who excels at delivering comprehensive event coordination and management for large-scale meetings, conventions, and exhibitions. The Senior Event Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the success of events by independently coordinating all aspects of service delivery specific to the facility's offerings.
This position involves supervising and mentoring Event Managers and Event Coordinators, providing guidance and expertise to ensure that customer expectations are consistently exceeded. The role requires a dynamic individual capable of managing multiple events simultaneously, from the initial planning stages through to the final execution, while maintaining clear, timely communication with clients and internal departments. Responsibility extends to interpreting and explaining contractual agreements, enforcing facility policies, monitoring event setups, and troubleshooting to anticipate and resolve potential challenges.
Moreover, the Senior Event Manager acts as the primary liaison between clients and the Convention Center’s operational teams, ensuring that all event requirements, including meeting room configurations, floor plans, insurance, and equipment needs, are precisely coordinated and delivered. This position also involves collaboration with external partners such as the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau and various contractors, further expanding the scope of responsibility.
Candidates for this role must be committed to delivering exceptional customer service with professionalism and hospitality, working extended hours as necessary, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The role demands high energy, creative problem-solving skills, and the ability to make decisive business judgments. Proficiency with event management software such as Ungerboeck EBMS and strong computer skills with Microsoft Office applications are essential. Physical demands include the ability to work long hours standing or walking and operating office equipment efficiently.
In essence, the Senior Event Manager is a cornerstone of the Pennsylvania Convention Center's event success strategy. This role offers an opportunity for a dedicated professional with extensive hospitality and event planning experience to contribute significantly to one of the region’s most respected event venues. You will be part of a collaborative team, upholding ASM Global’s goals and brand promise while ensuring every event is executed flawlessly to enhance customer satisfaction and drive repeat business.
