Job Description
Din Tai Fung is a globally recognized, family-owned restaurant brand established in 1972, celebrated internationally for its iconic Xiao Long Bao. With over 165 locations worldwide and expanding presence throughout North America, Din Tai Fung is synonymous with exceptional quality, authentic flavors, and world-class hospitality. The brand prides itself on maintaining the highest standards in food preparation and guest service, making it one of the most respected dining experiences in the industry. The Los Angeles-based operation plays a vital role in the North American market, overseeing multiple high-volume restaurants dedicated to delivering memorable dining experiences that combine tradition and innovation. Din Tai Fung is committed to fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement among its employees, ensuring every guest encounter reflects the brand’s legendary reputation.
We are currently seeking a Senior Director of Front of House (FOH) Operations, an executive-level leadership role responsible for overseeing and optimizing guest experience, operational performance, and team culture across 5 to 7 high-volume restaurant locations in Los Angeles, California. This is a distinctive field leadership opportunity that demands a seasoned professional capable of coaching and developing General Managers, driving multi-million dollar operational success, and shaping a guest-centric culture where excellence is the standard, not just an aspiration.
The Senior Director of FOH Operations will be accountable for elevating the standards of hospitality and operational execution by providing strategic direction and hands-on leadership. This role entails partnering closely with General Managers to ensure seamless guest service, optimal staffing, and maintenance of service and cleanliness standards. Additionally, the role calls for managing financial performance through diligent P&L oversight, labor management, and achieving EBITDA targets. Success in this position requires strong business acumen, impeccable communication skills, and a proven ability to influence senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
Beyond operational management, this position emphasizes talent development, nurturing a high-performing team, and fostering a culture aligned with Din Tai Fung’s core values. The Senior Director will serve as the primary mentor and coach for General Managers, implementing formal development frameworks to build succession pipelines, improve team accountability, and boost overall restaurant performance. This leader will also collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as Facilities and People & Culture to support company-wide initiatives and ensure compliance with all health, safety, labor, and operational regulations.
The position offers a competitive salary range of $180,000 to $227,000 along with bonus eligibility, reflecting the significance and scope of the leadership responsibilities. The role demands frequent travel among the restaurants and a willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required to ensure operational success in fast-paced, high-volume dining environments. This is a unique chance for an experienced multi-unit restaurant leader who is passionate about hospitality to make a tangible impact on one of the most iconic restaurant brands in the world, setting the stage for future growth and innovation within the North American market.
