The role in focus is that of a Restaurant Host, a vital position that ensures guests receive exceptional service from the moment they enter the restaurant until they leave. Restaurant Hosts at PENN Entertainment play a crucial role in greeting guests warmly, managing seating arrangements efficiently, and maintaining a clean and organized dining environment. They act as a welcoming face that enhances the overall guest experience, contributing to the company’s reputation for excellence in customer service.

The position involves responsibilities such as greeting and seating guests according to specified rotation requirements, maintaining accurate seating and reservation records, monitoring table availability, and keeping the designated work area clean and sanitary in compliance with health and safety standards. Additionally, Restaurant Hosts assist the wait staff and bus persons by refilling drinks, pre-bussing tables, and promptly attending to guest needs. At the end of each shift, hosts are responsible for completing closing duties to ensure the restaurant is orderly for the next day.

Successful candidates must exhibit excellent communication skills and a friendly, professional demeanor. Working in a sometimes noisy, fast-paced dining environment requires physical mobility and the ability to respond quickly to visual and oral cues. Candidates must be able to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. A high school diploma or equivalent and the ability to read, write, and speak English clearly are required to excel in this role.

Job Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be able to read, write legibly, understand and speak English
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills required
  • Must be available to work required schedule including nights, weekends, holidays and overtime
  • Must meet professional appearance standards as prescribed by company policy
  • Must be able to respond to visual and oral cues
  • Ability to work in constricting areas
  • Must tolerate noise and bright lights
  • Ability to work at a fast pace in crowded and noisy environment
  • Physically mobile with reasonable accommodations including ability to push, pull, carry and lift up to 100 lbs
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks such as push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel and balance in varying work areas including confined spaces

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Provide fast, friendly, professional and responsive customer service to restaurant guests and staff
  • Greet and welcome each guest entering the restaurant
  • Seat guests according to specified rotation requirements
  • Maintain proper seating and reservation documentation
  • Monitor restaurant for table availability
  • Keep designated working area clean and organized, including dining room and cashiering area
  • Assist wait staff and bus persons with duties such as refilling beverages and clearing tables
  • Complete all assigned closing duties at end of shift
  • Promote current casino events and programs and provide directions to guests
  • Thank customers, invite them back, and facilitate their return to play
  • Assist in any duties deemed necessary by supervisors
