Job Description
Our Mill Valley store is a specialized retail establishment dedicated to providing customers with premium organic and biodynamic wines, organic beers, and artisan cheeses sourced primarily from local and organic producers. This store is part of a larger network committed to the organic food movement and focused on delivering high-quality, carefully curated specialty products to discerning customers who value sustainability and excellence. Situated in the charming community of Mill Valley, the store serves as a hub for enthusiasts of distinctive wines and cheeses and prides itself on customer service, community connection, and expert knowledge.
The store is currently seeking a full-time Specialty Cheese and Wine Manager to lead its Specialty department. This is a pivotal role that requires at least one year of management experience and a strong background in wine, cheese, and specialty food products. Responsibilities include overseeing a team of four to five staff members, managing ordering and product quality, maintaining safety and sanitation standards, and handling department finances such as costing, pricing, and margin blending. The ideal candidate will embody a leadership style focused on team building, teaching, supporting, and role-modeling to foster a positive and productive work environment.

The wage for new hires starts between $25 and $27 per hour, with potential increases post-hire ranging from $25 to $35 per hour based on performance, experience, and departmental contribution. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- minimum one year of management experience
- minimum one year of buying experience
- strong knowledge of wine, beer and artisan cheeses
- experience with cheese cutting and wrapping or food handling
- proficient computer skills
- ability to lift up to 45 lbs
- availability to work mixed shifts including weekends

Job Qualifications
- Minimum one year of buying experience
- minimum one year of previous management experience at department level
- strong knowledge of wine, beer and artisan/specialty cheeses
- cheese cutting and wrapping or strong food handling experience
- computer skills to place orders and create purchase orders
- ability to lift and move wine boxes up to 45 lbs, stock product on shelves, cut and wrap cheese
Job Duties
- Lead a team of four or five in performance, customer service, product knowledge
