Job Requirements

  • Maintain and update ServSafe certification
  • Must be over 21 for legal tasting of products containing alcohol
  • 5+ years experience in customer service
  • 3+ years experience handling beer, wine, or cheese

  • Ability to comprehend complex instructions

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Email, and inventory control software
  • Evening and weekend availability

Job Qualifications

  • 5+ years previous experience in customer service
  • 3+ years previous experience handling beer, wine, or cheese
  • 3+ years previous supervisory experience
  • Ability to comprehend complex instructions and communicate effectively
  • Effective presentation skills in one-to-one and small group situations
  • Math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division with U.S. currency and measurements
  • Ability to apply reasoning and common sense to problem-solving
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Email, and inventory software
  • ServSafe certification
  • Ability to adapt to changes and manage competing demands
  • Strong leadership and people management skills

Job Duties

  • Uphold all co-op policies, procedures and expectations
  • Ensure the department operates effectively and efficiently
  • Exceed customers' expectations for service
  • Maintain a calm and friendly demeanor with customers
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness and attractive signage
  • Stock wine, beer, cheese, and olive products according to standards
  • Follow proper opening and closing procedures
  • Order products and take special customer orders
  • Maintain knowledge of specialty vendors and delivery schedules
  • Receive and inspect orders for quality and accuracy
  • Organize and clean walk-in cooler and work areas
  • Assist customers with selections and process orders
  • Maintain sanitation standards following Good Organic Retailing Procedures
  • Create and evaluate operating standards and procedures
  • Develop and maintain attractive department displays
  • Adhere to employee handbook and policies
  • Set clear expectations and supervise staff performance
  • Delegate and assign departmental tasks
  • Communicate with Human Resources as needed
  • Support performance management practices and address employee concerns
