Located in Los Angeles near several major hospitals, LARMH serves as a home-away-from-home for families of seriously ill children, offering a compassionate and supportive environment during difficult times. Reporting directly to the Director of Development, the Special Events Manager is responsible for the tactical management of major fundraising events, including the signature "There’s No Place Like Home Gala." The role requires a strong focus on budget management to ensure that annual fundraising goals are met while keeping expense ratios low.

The Special Events Manager oversees all aspects of event planning and execution, from timeline creation and collateral development to vendor management and promotion. They maintain a portfolio of event sponsors and attendees, actively securing sponsorships, underwriting, and individual ticket sales to maximize revenue. Additionally, this position involves leading solicitation efforts for auction items, in-kind donations, and program advertising through relationship-building and proactive outreach to donors, businesses, and community partners.

In collaboration with volunteers and other staff, the Special Events Manager directs the gala committee, supports the maintenance of event records and donor tracking, and manages the event website. The role also encompasses community engagement by stewarding third-party fundraising partnerships and participating in outreach and speaking engagements. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills are essential as the manager balances multiple tasks in a fast-paced nonprofit environment, including occasional evening and weekend work.

Candidates for this role should possess a bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in nonprofit fund development, particularly in event coordination and fundraising. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and development software like Raisers Edge or Classy is desirable. The ability to read and interpret business materials, write reports, and present to diverse audiences is expected. This position also requires a valid California Driver’s License, physical ability to perform event-related duties, and a commitment to the organization's inclusivity and compassionate approach to staff, volunteers, and families. This opportunity is ideal for a motivated self-starter eager to make a meaningful difference through dynamic event management and fundraising in a respected charitable organization.
