The Regional Safety Manager position is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing and driving the regional EHS programs across several sites. This role requires comprehensive experience in managing environmental health and safety initiatives, ensuring regulatory compliance, and embedding a culture of safety through transparent communication, training, and mentorship. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated history of successfully leading multi-site EHS compliance efforts, conducting thorough audits, and performing detailed incident investigations with a focus on root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
This position plays a pivotal role in partnering with site-specific leadership and corporate teams to implement consistent safety protocols, respond to regulatory inquiries, and report on safety performance metrics such as Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR), Days Away, Restricted or Transferred (DART) rate, and Lost Time Injury Rate (LTIR). The Regional Safety Manager will also spearhead emergency preparedness efforts, including the development and periodic testing of Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) to ensure readiness for crises and emergencies.
Beyond compliance, this role emphasizes leadership capabilities including coaching, training, and mentoring employees and managers to cultivate behavior-based safety practices. The Regional Safety Manager is expected to facilitate safety committees that encourage employee involvement and ownership in safety initiatives, both at the regional and site levels. This dynamic position requires coordination with Human Resources and Legal teams to navigate complex employee relations and compliance matters effectively.
Candidates should possess advanced proficiency in industrial hygiene, risk assessment, ergonomic evaluations, and the use of data analytics tools including Excel and various EHS software platforms. The role demands a high level of resilience and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, multi-site operational environment. A Master’s degree in occupational health and safety or related fields, combined with 7 to 10 years of progressive experience and professional certifications like CSP or CIH, is essential.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- 7-10 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety roles
- 3+ years in a leadership or management position managing multi-site operations
- Professional EHS certification such as CSP or CIH
- Proven experience in OSHA, EPA, and DOT compliance
- Demonstrated ability to conduct incident investigations and root cause analysis
- Strong risk assessment and hazard mitigation skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Proficiency in safety data analysis and reporting tools
- Ability to lead safety training and culture initiatives
- Capability to work with diverse teams and regulatory agencies
- Resilience to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Job Qualifications
- Master’s degree in occupational health and safety or related field
- 7-10 years of progressive experience in EHS including 3+ years in management or multi-site role
- Professional certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or equivalent
- Expertise in OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulatory compliance and reporting
- Skilled in incident investigation and root-cause analysis methods like 5 Whys and Fishbone
- Proficient in risk assessment and hazard control using JHA/JSA and hierarchy of controls
- Experience with safety data analysis, KPI reporting, and EHS platforms
- Knowledge of industrial hygiene fundamentals including exposure monitoring
- Ability to conduct ergonomic assessments to reduce musculoskeletal disorder risks
- Strong leadership and influence, effective communication, problem-solving, resilience, and coaching skills
Job Duties
- Develop, implement, and oversee regional EHS strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Drive a strong safety culture through leadership, coaching, and behavior-based safety practices
- Lead and conduct incident investigations using root-cause analysis to identify systemic issues and implement CAPA
- Conduct EHS compliance audits, risk assessments, and job hazard analyses at regional facilities
- Coordinate and deliver safety training including emergency response, hazardous materials handling, and equipment safety
- Partner with site leadership, operations teams, and regulatory agencies to ensure consistent safety practices and compliance
- Develop and test site-specific Emergency Action Plans and crisis response procedures
- Evaluate and approve new equipment, processes, and materials from an EHS perspective
- Facilitate regional and site-level safety committees empowering employee participation
- Support corporate EHS team with rollout of company-wide initiatives and systems
- Collaborate with Human Resources, Legal, and Operations to address complex employee relations matters related to safety and compliance
- Serve as primary contact for regulatory agencies during inspections, inquiries, and reporting
- Analyze regional safety metrics and trends to identify risks, measure program effectiveness, and present recommendations to senior leadership
