Job Description

MGM Resorts International stands as a leading global hospitality company renowned for its vibrant entertainment, luxurious resorts, and world-class dining experiences. Located in the heart of Las Vegas, Nevada, MGM Resorts embodies excitement, diversity, and exceptional guest service, making it a premier destination for millions of visitors annually. With a commitment to innovation, inclusivity, and community engagement, MGM Resorts offers employees an inspiring and dynamic workplace where creativity and performance thrive. As a respected industry leader, MGM Resorts continues to elevate the standards in hospitality by blending tradition with cutting-edge approaches to customer satisfaction and business growth.

The role of Sous Chef at The Cosmopolitan's Corner Store represents an extraordinary opportunity to be part of one of the most anticipated culinary ventures on the Las Vegas Strip. This position involves contributing to the launch and ongoing development of a new dining destination that blends sophistication with culinary artistry. The Sous Chef will play a pivotal role in shaping the restaurant's culinary identity by leading and inspiring a talented kitchen team to deliver exceptional dishes to guests. This role demands a blend of creativity, precision, and effective leadership to maintain the highest standards of food quality and guest satisfaction.

As Sous Chef, you will be responsible for training and supervising various kitchen staff, including Master Cooks, Cooks, Pantry Workers, and Helpers, ensuring all team members understand their duties and perform effectively. You will manage inventory processes comprehensively—handling requisitions, maintaining proper labeling and dating for food safety, and overseeing the quality and consistency of food preparations, focusing on base sauces, stocks, and soups. Effective communication with management and service staff ensures guaranteed satisfaction of both guests and employees, addressing any culinary needs or service challenges swiftly.

This position also involves supporting the Executive Chef in administrative and operational tasks such as controlling purchasing activities, maintaining purveyor lists, conducting inventory checks on kitchen supplies, and assisting in scheduling to optimize workforce efficiency. Additionally, you will assist in establishing strategic goals focused on profitability, product excellence, and team development, ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly and productively. This underlines the Sous Chef's significant contribution not only to food preparation but also to overall kitchen management and team success.

The ideal candidate for this role will bring a solid culinary educational background combined with hands-on supervisory experience in a bustling food service environment. Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays, is essential. Experience with managing teams under a Collective Bargaining Agreement is preferred, showcasing the ability to work effectively within unionized environments. This unique position offers numerous benefits, including wellness incentives, access to discounts across company properties and partners, complimentary meals, parking perks, and comprehensive health and income protection benefits. It also fosters professional growth through development programs and community engagement opportunities, making it a rewarding career choice at one of Las Vegas’s most notable establishments.

Joining MGM Resorts as the Sous Chef at The Cosmopolitan’s Corner Store is an invitation to be part of something truly special within the vibrant hospitality and entertainment capital of the world. You will have the chance to leave a lasting culinary legacy while enjoying a supportive and innovative work environment that promotes your career and personal well-being.
