This position is for an Executive Sous Chef within their Culinary Department, a pivotal role that directly influences the dining experience of residents as well as operational success. The role is full-time and exempt, offering a competitive hourly wage ranging from $26 to $32, scheduled Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am to 7 pm, located onsite at Ovation Sienna Hills.

As Executive Sous Chef, you will be integral to the successful operation of the culinary services, assisting the Executive Chef in overseeing food preparation, menu development, and culinary staff supervision. This role demands a high level of culinary expertise as well as leadership skills, as you will be responsible for ensuring food quality, presentation, and safety consistently meet strict standards. You will also play a significant role in cost control and inventory management, assisting with ordering to optimize food costs while delivering exceptional meals to senior residents. Creative input is valued, especially in developing menus that meet the nutritional and taste preferences of a complex demographic.

Additionally, this role involves catering responsibilities, requiring you to plan and execute special events that enhance the community experience. You will collaborate closely with the marketing and corporate culinary teams to launch new culinary programs tailored to resident and client satisfaction. Your ability to apply culinary trends while maintaining institutional foodservice standards is essential.

Job Requirements

  • Associate degree in culinary arts or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in culinary or kitchen management roles
  • Proven experience in high volume foodservice operations
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to manage and oversee culinary staff
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Effective communication and leadership skills
  • Availability to work Tuesday through Saturday 10am to 7pm
  • ServSafe certification preferred

Job Qualifications

  • A.S. or equivalent experience
  • Some progressive culinary or kitchen management experience depending upon formal degree or training
  • Catering experience a plus
  • High volume, complex foodservice operations experience highly desirable
  • Institutional and batch cooking experiences helpful
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
  • Experienced with computers including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, email, and Internet
  • Willingness to participate in client satisfaction programs and activities
  • ServSafe certified highly desirable

Job Duties

  • Assist the Executive Chef with managing cost controls and expenditures for the account
  • Assist the Executive Chef with planning and creating menus
  • Produce and execute catering events
  • Roll out new culinary programs in conjunction with Company marketing and culinary team
  • Supervise hourly culinary associates
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
  • Collaborate with management to enhance client satisfaction
