As a Sous Chef within Compass Group USA, you will play a pivotal role in the operation of the Culinary Department at a designated facility. This position offers an exciting and challenging opportunity for an energetic and entrepreneurial culinary professional to contribute to the company's legacy and innovative culinary experiences. Your core responsibilities will include assisting the Executive Chef in managing cost controls and expenditures, planning and creating dynamic menus, and executing catering events with precision and excellence. You may also be expected to supervise hourly associates, ensuring high standards in food quality, presentation, and sanitation are met and maintained consistently.
The Sous Chef will also participate in rolling out new culinary programs in collaboration with the company's marketing and culinary teams to enhance customer satisfaction and elevate the overall culinary experience. Ideal candidates possess comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends, with a strong focus on quality production, sanitation, cost control, and presentation. The role demands proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, email, and internet usage. Additionally, being ServSafe certified and having progressive kitchen management experience, particularly in high-volume, complex foodservice operations or catering, is highly desirable.

Job Requirements
- a.s. degree or equivalent experience
- progressive culinary or kitchen management experience
- experience in catering
- knowledge of foodservice cost controls
- computer proficiency including microsoft office, outlook, and internet
- may need to supervise hourly associates
- willingness to participate in client satisfaction programs
- servsafe certification highly desirable
Job Qualifications
- a.s. or equivalent experience
- some progressive culinary/kitchen management experience depending upon formal degree or training
- catering experience a plus
- experience with high volume, complex foodservice operations highly desirable
- institutional and batch cooking experiences helpful
- comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
- proficient with computers including microsoft office (word, excel and power point), outlook, e-mail and internet
- willing to participate in client satisfaction programs/activities
- servsafe certified highly desirable
Job Duties
- assist the executive chef with managing cost controls and control expenditures for the account
- assist the executive chef with planning and creating menus
- produce and execute catering events
- roll out new culinary programs in conjunction with company marketing and culinary team
- supervise hourly associates
- develop daily menu items and their preparation and garnishment
- work with executive chef/chef to develop new menus and assist with ordering
