Job Requirements

  • Culinary Arts Degree and/or 5 years sous chef experience or equivalent
  • ServSafe Certification or proof of ability to acquire if expired
  • Ability to uphold food safety and sanitation standards
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities
  • Capacity to manage food cost and kitchen operations
  • Willingness to work flexible and varied hours
  • Ability to lift up to fifty pounds
  • Ability to work on feet for most of the day
  • Ability to work in a high-intensity, high-noise environment
  • Ability to respond to emails and collaborate with clients
  • Commitment to professional growth and industry engagement

Job Qualifications

  • Culinary Arts Degree and/or 5 years sous chef experience or equivalent
  • ServSafe Certification or ability to acquire
  • Experience in menu development and food safety management
  • Strong leadership and mentorship skills
  • Ability to manage food cost and kitchen operations
  • Experience working with student or trainee staff
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Preferred bachelor’s degree in hospitality
  • Preferred 5 years sous chef experience in banquet, full-service restaurant or hotel operations

Job Duties

  • Uphold Knoebel Events brand standards through food quality, consistency, development, and execution from purchases to final product
  • Help with menu development and annual menu updates focusing on client needs and current industry trends
  • Maintain and oversee food safety and sanitation standards
  • Manage an entirely scratch food kitchen while striving to maintain a 30% food cost
  • Develop student staff to ensure efficient operations and a viable learning experience
  • Ensure staffing levels are adequate and align with monthly labor cost goals
  • Assist in hiring student employees
  • Maintain kitchen maintenance and cleanliness
  • Respond to student or client related email inquiries or requests
  • Collaborate with clients to execute tastings and special menus
  • Uphold membership in an outside industry organization or pursue educational advancement for personal and professional growth
  • Complete weekly kitchen staff schedules
  • Oversee operations in the Executive Chef's absence
