The Sous Chef position at Levy, located at Carmax Park, is a part-time seasonal role offering competitive pay ranging from $24.00 to $26.00 per hour. As a Sous Chef, you will support the Executive Chef in preparing and cooking foods according to approved recipes and production standards. You will play a key role in coordinating the activities of cooks and other food-service associates, ensuring smooth kitchen operations and timely meal production that meet the high standards Levy is known for. The role includes supervising hourly food-service associates, which encompasses interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, and participating in performance reviews. You will also be responsible for maintaining food safety and sanitation protocols, managing inventory and supplies, and engaging with customers to resolve any issues in a friendly, service-oriented manner.

Job Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and physically engage with guests
- Ability to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Ability to respond quickly and alertly in emergency situations
- Physical stamina and agility to be mobile throughout the day
- Ability to lift and move materials and equipment up to 50 pounds
- Ability to move from sitting to standing position quickly
- Must be able to work part-time, seasonal hours
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience as a cook or in a similar kitchen role
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to supervise and manage a team
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Physical stamina to handle a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks
Job Duties
- Cook and prepare food following approved recipes and production standards
- Ensure all deadlines are met based on production orders
- Supervise hourly food service associates including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, and recommending disciplinary action
- Store food in designated areas following all corporate, state, and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
- Ensure proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures
- Maintain sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils
- Clean workstation thoroughly before leaving area
- Keep display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service to comply with all sanitation, safety, production, and merchandising requirements
- Interact with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner
- Relay relevant information directly to supervisor
- Demonstrate complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explain them to associates and customers
- Monitor inventory and deliveries of product and supplies
- Track product production, consumption, and waste
- Inform supervisor when supplies or product are low
- Perform other duties as assigned
