Currently, Provincial Senior Living is seeking a dedicated Sous Chef to join their dietary and kitchen team. The Sous Chef role is integral to supporting the Executive Chef in managing kitchen operations and maintaining the quality and safety standards that define the community's dining experience. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to a vibrant and purposeful work environment where culinary expertise meets compassionate service.

As a Sous Chef at Provincial Senior Living, you will provide leadership and supervision to the dietary and kitchen team, assisting in controlling food costs and ensuring the security and proper handling of all food items and supplies. You will help implement policies and procedures for meal production, coordinating timely and accurate meal preparation and service to residents. Maintaining regulatory compliance is a critical component of this role, including upholding food safety standards through meticulous record-keeping of Food Safety Equipment and Temperature Records. In addition, the Sous Chef is responsible for managing inventory through first-in, first-out (FIFO) rotation practices to safeguard quality and freshness.

This position requires a proactive individual with strong organizational and time management skills, along with sound judgment and problem-solving abilities. Flexibility in working schedules, including evenings, weekends, and variable hours, is essential to meet the community’s needs. A successful Sous Chef at Provincial Senior Living plays a direct role in enhancing residents’ lives by ensuring each meal is prepared with care, precision, and attention to dietary considerations. Job Requirements

  • Must have at least two years of experience as a sous chef
  • supervisory experience preferred
  • current Food Services Sanitation certificate required
  • associates degree in Culinary Arts preferred
  • strong organizational and time management skills
  • good judgment and problem solving abilities
  • availability to work weekends, evenings, and flexible hours

Job Qualifications

  • Two (2) years' Sous Chef experience
  • supervisory experience preferred
  • must maintain current Food Services Sanitation certificate
  • associates degree in Culinary Arts preferred
  • competent in organizational, time management skills
  • must demonstrate good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • ability to work weekends, evening and flexible hours

Job Duties

  • Provide supervision to dietary/kitchen team
  • assist in controlling food costs
  • assist in maintaining controls and security of all food items and supplies in storage
  • assist in maintaining and enforcing policies and procedures of all meal production, preparing and coordinating
  • assist in managing the meal service
  • receiving, rotating and inventory of products and regulatory compliance
  • ensuring correct portioning and plate presentation of all menu items
  • record and maintain Food Safety Equipment Records and Food Safety Temperature Records
  • perform and assist in the rotation (FIFO - First In First Out) inventory and security of such food and supplies in the correct storage area
