The company emphasizes fresh, locally-sourced ingredients and supports sustainable agricultural practices that positively impact local communities. Additionally, FISD offers innovative nutrition education programs designed to empower students with knowledge about healthy eating habits, ensuring they make smart choices every day. This holistic approach reinforces FISD's mission to nourish the whole person and cultivate a sense of community through outstanding food and engaging programming.

The Sous Chef will be tasked with preparing and cooking dishes according to approved recipes and production standards, ensuring all operational deadlines and standards are consistently met. This position includes managing kitchen staff by supervising, training, scheduling, and counseling food service associates to maintain a highly efficient kitchen environment. The successful candidate will also uphold all corporate, state, and federal food safety and sanitation standards, making sure food is handled properly and served at the correct temperatures.

In addition to food preparation and kitchen management, the Sous Chef serves as a key point of contact in resolving customer concerns with professionalism and a service-oriented approach. The role involves maintaining inventory control, monitoring production, consumption, and waste, and continuously ensuring cleanliness and safety throughout the kitchen and dining areas. With a starting pay range of $18.00 to $22.00 per hour, the position offers competitive compensation along with attractive perks including uniforms, lunch provided, and a uniform laundering service at select locations.

FISD associates benefit from a robust offering of programs such as retirement plans, health and wellness initiatives, associate shopping programs, and multiple insurance options including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance. Flexible spending accounts, commuter benefits, and employee assistance programs enhance the comprehensive benefits package, available to full-time employees. FISD is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, guaranteeing fair treatment and equal opportunity for all employees and applicants regardless of their background.

This Sous Chef role is ideal for culinary professionals with at least two years of experience, seeking a stable, rewarding career in a supportive and innovative environment focused on nourishing the future generation.
