This full-time Sous Chef position is based at CAP Tulsa, located at 5330 East 31st Street, Suite 300, in Tulsa, OK. The role offers an hourly pay range between $23.00 and $25.00, with benefits such as free meals, uniforms, and laundry services available at select locations. As a Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Executive Chef with food preparation, kitchen management, and the supervision of food-service staff to ensure the highest quality standards are met. This position reports directly to the Executive Chef and requires someone who can efficiently manage kitchen operations, maintain food safety protocols, and contribute to a positive and productive work environment.

The role of the Sous Chef extends beyond cooking; it includes coordinating activities of cooks and food service associates, assuming responsibility for the kitchen during the absence of the Executive Chef, and ensuring compliance with all sanitation, safety, and quality standards. You will be expected to uphold production timelines, monitor inventory and supplies, and maintain cleanliness and organization within the kitchen. Your interaction with customers is also vital, as you'll help resolve any service issues and represent the values of Compass Group at CAP Tulsa.

Ideal candidates will have previous Sous Chef or lead cook experience, capable of managing diverse teams, training and counseling staff, and executing food preparation in line with approved recipes and standards. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous sous chef or lead cook experience preferred
  • Ability to work full time with varying hours and days
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical kitchen tasks
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently

Job Duties

  • Help executive chef prepare and cook foods
  • Coordinate activities of cooks and other food-service associates
  • Assume responsibility for kitchen and food-service associates in absence of executive chef
  • Cook and prepare food following approved recipes and production standards
  • Ensure all deadlines are met based on production orders
  • Supervise hourly food service associates including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, and recommending disciplinary action
  • Store food in designated areas following all corporate, state and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Ensure proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures
  • Maintain sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils
  • Clean workstation thoroughly before leaving area
  • Keep display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service
  • Interact with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner
  • Relay relevant information directly to supervisor
  • Demonstrate complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explain them
  • Keep up with peak production and service hours
  • Monitor inventory and deliveries of product and supplies
  • Track product production, consumption and waste
  • Inform supervisor when supplies or product are low
  • Perform other duties as assigned
