The Sous Chef role at Capriana is an essential culinary leadership position responsible for preparing food in accordance with the approved menu, property policies, and health regulations. Under the direction of the Culinary Services Director, or in their absence, the Sous Chef will oversee the daily operations of the Culinary Department to ensure consistently high quality food service. This includes meal planning, preparation, presentation, and service aimed at providing residents, family members, and visitors a dining experience of superior quality. The Sous Chef plays a key role in menu execution, food safety, inventory control, staff supervision, and maintaining a sanitary work environment. Additionally, this position involves collaboration on purchasing, estimating food requirements to reduce waste, and tailoring the culinary services program to residents' preferences. Candidates will be a critical part of a compassionate and committed team that prioritizes the well-being of seniors and strives to enhance their daily experiences through excellent food service. This full-time role offers an hourly pay range of $23.00 to $24.25, providing an excellent opportunity for culinary professionals passionate about senior care and food excellence.
Job Requirements
- Must be eighteen years of age
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Prefer six months of experience as a cook in a restaurant or similar environment
- Able to safely operate standard cooking equipment and utensils
- Able to operate a personal computer and standard office equipment
- Knowledge of assisted living and dementia care preferred
- Able to work patiently with seniors and cognitively impaired individuals
- Able to adapt and respond to change and stress
- Able to follow written or oral instructions
- Must pass criminal background and health screenings including physical and TB tests
- Willingness to comply with vaccination and PPE requirements as per company policy
