The company prides itself on maintaining sparkling facilities, providing great food and service, and fostering a culture of kindness, teamwork, and community involvement. As part of the Compass Group, a leader in the foodservice industry, TouchPoint upholds high standards of quality, professionalism, and inclusivity, embracing equal opportunity employment practices and a commitment to supporting the health of vulnerable populations.
The role of Sous Chef at TouchPoint Support Services is an essential leadership position within their culinary team, based at the Henry Ford St. John Hospital location in Detroit, Michigan. This full-time position involves close collaboration with the Executive Chef to prepare and cook food, ensuring all culinary activities meet established quality and safety standards. The Sous Chef is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen, coordinating the activities of cooks and food-service associates, and stepping in for the Executive Chef when necessary. This dynamic role requires a blend of technical culinary skills, supervisory abilities, and a passion for superior customer service.
Work hours for this position are full-time, with schedules that may vary, including rotating weekends and holidays, offering a flexible yet demanding work environment. The compensation for the role is competitive, starting at $20.00 per hour, reflecting the significance of the responsibilities and the expertise required. The Sous Chef will be deeply involved in food preparation following approved recipes and production standards, while also ensuring compliance with corporate, state, and federal food safety regulations.
In addition to cooking duties, this role entails supervising hourly food service associates through tasks such as interviewing, scheduling, payroll administration, training, counseling, and performance reviews. The Sous Chef will also manage inventory, monitor product quality, and maintain excellent sanitation standards for all kitchen equipment and workstations. Interaction with customers to resolve issues in a friendly and service-oriented manner is an important aspect of the role, emphasizing the importance of communication and hospitality.
TouchPoint offers a range of benefits for associates, recognizing the value of their contribution to the healing environment. Employees have access to retirement plans, health and wellness programs, and a variety of voluntary benefits. Full-time employees receive additional coverages including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurances, as well as commuter benefits and employee assistance programs. Associates are also eligible for paid or unpaid time off in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
At TouchPoint, working as a Sous Chef is more than a job; it is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of patients and their families through excellent food service and hospitality. The company fosters a work culture that supports growth, teamwork, and fun, making it an ideal place for culinary professionals who are driven by service and leadership.
