Job Description

MetroHealth System is a comprehensive health care organization committed to enhancing community health and well-being beyond traditional medical treatment. Established in 1837, it serves as Cuyahoga County's safety-net health system, operating four hospitals, four emergency departments, and more than 20 health centers. MetroHealth focuses not only on treating diseases but also on improving the social determinants of health such as affordable housing, a cleaner environment, economic opportunity, access to fresh food, convenient transportation, legal assistance, and other essential services. This holistic approach aims to prevent disease and build healthier communities through innovative, community-centered care programs.

The role available at the MetroHealth Old Brooklyn Campus is for a Food Production Supervisor, a position integral to maintaining high standards in food service operations within the system. This full-time, biweekly position requires managing the efficient production and service of food in multiple settings, including specialty catering functions, trayline services, cafeteria services, retail outlets, and room service operations. The Food Production Supervisor is responsible for ensuring compliance with safety, sanitation, and quality control standards, which are critical in a health care environment where food safety is paramount.

Beyond operational management, this supervisory role involves leading and motivating food service personnel to deliver excellent customer service consistent with the system-wide service standards. The Food Production Supervisor must understand culinary arts comprehensively, ranging from baking and salad preparation to hot food production and banquet service. Candidates for this position are expected to have two to three years of food production experience with supervisory duties in an institutional or similar professional setting, demonstrating the ability to operate efficiently within a team and uphold high food handling standards.

This position requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Additionally, candidates must possess or obtain within 90 days a Level 2 food protection course certification or an equivalent certificate, such as the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification, ensuring adherence to food safety regulations. While a culinary degree is strongly preferred, previous experience as a Sous Chef or Head Cook enhances candidacy, reinforcing the role's demand for advanced kitchen leadership and culinary expertise.

MetroHealth values dedication to quality, safety, and community-focused health care delivery. The Food Production Supervisor plays a pivotal role in supporting the organization's mission to not only treat illness but also promote overall well-being through excellent food service operations that meet the needs and preferences of patients, visitors, and staff. This is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a respected health system poised at the intersection of health care and community impact, offering a dynamic work environment, professional growth, and the chance to be part of a forward-thinking health system dedicated to innovation and inclusion.
