The role of Sous Chef at Morrison Healthcare is a vital leadership position within the Culinary Department of a healthcare facility. This full-time role, offering a competitive salary range of $75,000 to $80,000 annually, involves assisting the Executive Chef to ensure the smooth operation of culinary services. The Sous Chef plays a key role in supervising food preparation and cooking, developing daily menus with attention to nutritional requirements and presentation, and maintaining quality and cost control measures. Reporting directly to the Executive Chef, the Sous Chef will also engage in the rollout of new culinary initiatives in partnership with company marketing and culinary teams, lend expertise in catering events, and participate actively in client satisfaction programs. Proficiency in computer skills, especially Microsoft Office applications and internet communications, is essential to handle ordering, menu planning, and documentation duties effectively. Job Qualifications
- A.S. or equivalent experience
- some progressive culinary or kitchen management experience depending upon formal degree or training
- catering experience a plus
- high volume, complex foodservice operations experience highly desirable
- institutional and batch cooking experiences helpful
- comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
- proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and internet
- servsafe certified highly desirable
- strong interpersonal and communication skills
Job Duties
- Assist the executive chef with managing cost controls and control expenditures for the account
- assist the executive chef with planning and creating menus
- produce and execute catering events
- roll out new culinary programs in conjunction with company marketing and culinary team
