The Boulevard Senior Living St. Peters, located at 500 Bluffstone Circle in St. Peters, Missouri, is actively seeking a full-time Sous Chef to join their culinary team. This role offers a competitive starting wage of $25.00 to $27.00 per hour and operates on a Sunday through Thursday schedule from 6 am to 2 pm. The Sous Chef will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional dining experiences to the senior residents by ensuring food preparation meets culinary standards with attention to portion control and waste minimization. This position requires leadership skills to operate daily kitchen activities, maintain high hygiene and safety standards, supervise staff, and uphold the community's core values.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least eighteen years of age
  • Comfortable standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping all day
  • Ability to frequently lift or move items up to 50 pounds
  • Comfortable working near extreme temperatures including cooking surfaces and walk-in freezers
  • Must be criminally cleared
  • Ability to work primarily indoors with availability for outdoor events
  • Willingness to adhere to company core values
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Ability to work Sunday through Thursday shifts from 6 am to 2 pm

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completed formal culinary, food service, or restaurant training or equivalent supervisory or management-level work experience
  • At least three years of experience in senior housing or related field preferred but not required
  • Demonstrated skills in leadership, training, and supervision
  • Proficient written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to create, modify, and print documents using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities

Job Duties

  • Ensure food items are prepared to culinary standards and provide residents with an exceptional dining experience while maintaining portion control and minimizing waste
  • Supervise and inspect all aspects of culinary service including logs, cooking equipment, storage rotation, and food service regularly to ensure they are up-to-date, clean, and sanitary
  • Lead team in day-to-day operations through engagement, maintaining expectations, coaching and accountability
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Assist with inventory management and ordering supplies as needed
  • Train and mentor kitchen staff to enhance performance and ensure adherence to company standards
  • Participate in menu planning and special event catering as required
