Job Requirements

  • Must be at least eighteen years of age
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and stoop all day
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds
  • Comfortable working near extreme temperatures including cooking surfaces and walk-in freezers
  • Ability to work primarily indoors and occasionally outdoors for events
  • Criminal background clearance
  • Availability to work Sunday through Thursday 11:30 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Job Qualifications

  • At least three years of experience in senior housing or related culinary field preferred but not required
  • Demonstrated leadership, training, and supervisory skills
  • Formal culinary, food service, or restaurant training or equivalent supervisory/management experience
  • Proficient written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to create, modify, and print documents using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Competency in email communication
  • Understanding of kitchen safety and sanitation standards

Job Duties

  • Ensure food items are prepared to culinary standards and provide residents with an exceptional dining experience while maintaining portion control and minimizing waste
  • Supervise and inspect all aspects of culinary service including logs, cooking equipment, storage rotation, and food service regularly to ensure cleanliness and sanitation
  • Lead kitchen team in day-to-day operations through engagement, maintaining expectations, coaching, and accountability
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and safety standards consistently
  • Manage inventory and coordinate with vendors to ensure adequate food supply
  • Assist in menu planning and recipe development in collaboration with management
  • Train and mentor culinary staff to enhance performance and maintain high standards
