The Sous Chef role at Rancho Bernardo Inn is an exciting opportunity for culinary professionals passionate about creative cuisine and leadership within the hospitality industry. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience as a sous chef or similar culinary role
  • knowledge of sanitation and safety regulations
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • valid food handler's certification
  • strong physical stamina

Job Qualifications

  • culinary degree or equivalent experience
  • minimum of 3 years experience in a professional kitchen environment
  • strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking methods, and kitchen safety

Job Duties

  • assist the executive chef in daily kitchen operations
  • oversee food preparation and presentation ensuring quality and consistency
  • manage and mentor kitchen staff
  • help develop and improve menu items in collaboration with the culinary team
  • maintain health and safety standards in the kitchen
  • control inventory and food costs
  • support the overall guest dining experience by ensuring timely and efficient service
