This particular role is centered around supporting the culinary operations in Boyd Gaming's establishments by coordinating and facilitating all aspects of food preparation, presentation, and service under the guidance of the Executive Chef. The position plays a critical role in ensuring food quality and quantity standards are met consistently while minimizing waste through proper food rotation and storage practices. Additionally, the role involves overseeing kitchen staff performance, providing instruction and guidance, monitoring staffing levels to avoid overtime or shortfalls, and maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe kitchen environment. The successful candidate will be hands-on, working alongside kitchen staff to uphold culinary standards, manage inventory requisition based on business needs, and delegate work assignments efficiently to ensure smooth operations.
The role requires physical stamina as the candidate must be able to stand and walk for the majority of their shift, perform lifting tasks up to 40 pounds, and engage in various movements such as grasping, reaching, bending, and kneeling. Effective communication skills are critical to manage team members and ensure compliance with guidelines and standards. Additionally, the prospective candidate must be able to obtain and maintain any necessary certifications or licenses required for the position.

Job Qualifications
- One year of experience in the same or similar position preferred
- Must be able to stand and walk for majority of shift
- Must be able to lift, carry, and maneuver up to 40 pounds
- Other physical demands include grasping, reaching, bending, lifting, and kneeling
- Must have excellent communication skills
- Must be able to obtain and maintain any necessary licenses and certifications
Job Duties
- Coordinate and facilitate all food preparation, presentation, and service procedures as directed by the Executive Chef
- Monitor quality and quantity of prepared food
- Ensure proper rotation and utilization of stored food to prevent waste
- Oversee food preparation to ensure proper consistency, flavor, presentation, and portion control
- Monitor staffing levels, early out requests, and overtime
- Ensure kitchen and storage areas are clean, sanitary, and meet health and safety standards
- Delegate work assignments to cooks and other kitchen staff
- Monitor employee performance, instruct employees in job duties, and administer disciplinary actions
- Requisition stock according to business needs
- Maintain cleanliness and ensure safety in kitchen and related areas
