Job Description
Resort Lifestyle Communities is a distinguished family-owned company with over two decades of experience in delivering exceptional senior living experiences. Specializing in all-inclusive, independent, resort-style 55-and-over senior living retirement communities, Resort Lifestyle Communities has established a respected presence across the nation. Headquartered in Lincoln, Nebraska, the company is known for its dedication to fostering vibrant, active, and engaging communities tailored to meet the unique lifestyle needs of seniors. With an ongoing commitment to quality and compassionate care, Resort Lifestyle Communities continues to expand rapidly, bringing its innovative and heartfelt approach to senior living to more locations nationwide.
The role of the Sous Chef at Resort Lifestyle Communities is a pivotal position designed to blend culinary excellence with hospitality tailored to a resort-style senior living environment. This opportunity involves working in close collaboration with the Executive Chef, Community Managers, and other members of the Culinary and Dining teams to create a dining experience that is both memorable and satisfying for residents and guests. The Sous Chef will execute a scratch-based culinary menu that highlights a variety of cooking styles with an emphasis on fresh, high-quality ingredients, and an appealing presentation that aligns with the company’s resort-like standards.
This position offers a balanced schedule, working lunch and dinner shifts from Tuesday through Saturday, with no late-night shifts to ensure a healthy work-life balance. Employees enjoy a complimentary delicious meal during their shifts, reflecting the company’s commitment to care not only for their residents but for their team members as well. Additionally, the position includes access to OnDemand Pay, providing flexibility in financial management. Other notable benefits include a monthly stipend of $610 to apply toward various benefits, covering health, dental, vision insurance, life insurance, and disability coverage options. Employees also receive paid holidays, vacation time, and the opportunity to participate in a 401(k) plan with a generous employer match.
This role requires strong leadership abilities within a kitchen setting, including culinary preparation and ensuring sanitation standards are met consistently. The Sous Chef will be responsible for cooking meats, fish, vegetables, soups, and eggs efficiently while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety. Supporting the Executive Chef, the Sous Chef must be ready to take charge in their absence, managing kitchen inventory, ordering and stocking supplies, and monitoring temperature logs to guarantee food quality and compliance with health regulations. Embracing the organization’s core values—respect, kindness and compassion, honesty, and service excellence—is central to succeeding in this leadership role.
For candidates passionate about culinary arts and hospitality, who possess a servant heart and a desire to impact the lives of seniors positively, this position represents a rewarding career path. Resort Lifestyle Communities encourages applications from those eager to bring their expertise and enthusiasm to a workplace that values innovation, community, and excellence in service. If you want to be part of a growing company that blends hospitality with meaningful community living, consider joining Resort Lifestyle Communities as a Sous Chef and help create an extraordinary dining experience for our residents and guests.
