Job Requirements
- No prior experience or training required
- 2 years of relevant experience preferred
- Ability to read and interpret documents in English
- Effective communication skills for group and one-on-one interactions
- ServSafe Certification acquired within first available class after employment
- Valid food handlers card if required by state
- Ability to stand and walk over two-thirds of the time
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds under one-third of the time
- Availability for up to 3 special events per semester
Job Qualifications
- No prior experience or training required
- 2 years of relevant kitchen experience preferred
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English
- Effective communication skills for interaction with customers and employees
- Knowledge of kitchen safety procedures
- Capable of judging quality and quantity of raw and cooked food items
- Ability to maintain composure and work efficiently under pressure
- Strong coordination and critical thinking skills
- Experience with commercial kitchen tools such as convection ovens, broilers, and cutlery
- Problem sensitivity and judgment in food preparation and kitchen operations
- Availability for special event participation
Job Duties
- Ensures the overall cleanliness of kitchens meets and exceeds health and equipment cleaning standards
- Performs periodic and regular inspections of kitchen to observe quality of food preparation and service, food appearance, and cleanliness and sanitation of production and service areas
- Leads kitchen team in chef's absence
- Provides guidance to junior kitchen staff members
- Oversees and organizes kitchen stock and ingredients in Exec absence
- Ensures first-in, first-out food rotation system and verifies proper dating and organization of food products
- Keeps service line prepped and stocked before and during prime hours
- Assists with supervision of food preparation and presentation to ensure quality and standards
- Works with head chef to maintain kitchen organization, staff ability, and training opportunities
- Verifies food storage unit standards and management
- Assists Executive Chef with any duties or tasks needed
- Holds availability for up to 3 special events per semester and participates as required
- Maintains professional appearance and communicates client feedback to management
- Receives and checks truck deliveries for quality and quantity
- Maintains professional relationships with vendors and clients
- Abides by scheduling and time management protocols
- Assists in monitoring scheduling and time management of self and onsite staff
- Washes and cleans raw food products
- Ensures proper rotation in ovens following hold time standards
- Stocks and restocks items according to specifications
- Transfers to other worksites as needed by management
- Performs additional duties as assigned
