We are seeking a creative and dedicated Sous Chef to join our team at a large senior living community in [INSERT LOCATION]. This role is vital to the culinary operations within the community, acting as the second in command in the kitchen and assisting the Executive Chef. The Sous Chef will work collaboratively with the culinary team to prepare and execute appealing, nutritious meals tailored to the needs of senior residents. Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar culinary role
- Knowledge of cooking methods and kitchen equipment
- Familiarity with MS Office and restaurant software
- Ability to work flexible shifts
- Strong leadership and teamwork skills
- Understanding of special dietary needs
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
Job Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of cooking methods, kitchen equipment, and best practices
- Good understanding of MS Office and restaurant software programs
- Teamwork-oriented with outstanding leadership abilities
- Experience and/or knowledge of special diets, meal preparation for large groups preferred
- Safe food handling techniques are required
- Work flexible shifts
Job Duties
- Develop new menu options based on seasonal changes and customer demand
- Assist with the preparation and planning of meal designs
- Ensure that kitchen activities operate in a timely manner
- Monitor and record inventory, and if necessary, order new supplies
- Provide support to junior kitchen employees with various tasks including line cooking, food preparation, and dish plating
- Recruit and train new kitchen employees to meet kitchen standards
- Create schedules for kitchen employees and evaluate their performance
- Adhere to and implement sanitation regulations and safety regulations
